The MS program of the Department seeks to develop graduates who can:
1) Conduct complex data management and analysis using statistical packages such as STATA.
2) Conduct his or her own research on a variety of economic issues, broadly defined as the causes and consequences of complex real world problems in public policy making as well as in private business.
3) Learn how to write scholarly material for publication such as research papers, articles, and policy reports.
The Ph.D. program of the Department seeks to develop graduates who can:
1) Develop an in-depth understanding of the core concepts and theories of economics relevant to their areas of specialization.
2) Learn how to write scholarly material for publication such as research papers, articles, reports, and monographs
3) Collaborate with one or more of the Department's faculty and write scholarly material for publication such as research papers, articles, and policy reports
4) Eventually learn how to perform independent research on their interested topics in many areas of Economics.
