Professor Joo, Donghun earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Prior to obtaining his degree, he worked at the Bank of Korea in various departments such as the Department of Monetary Policy, the Financial Market Department, and the Research Department, among others. After completing his studies, he continued his career at the Bank of Korea, specifically at the Institute of Economic Research and the Macroeconomic Modeling Team of the Research Department. In these roles, he was responsible for conducting research on monetary policy and macroeconomic models.
Upon joining the university, Professor Joo served as a member of several committees of the Financial Services Commission. Additionally, he contributed to macroeconomic policy consulting tasks for countries such as Bolivia, Kuwait, Hungary, and Uzbekistan through the KSP projects hosted by the Korea Development Institute (KDI) and the KPP projects hosted by the Bank of Korea (BOK). Currently, his primary research focuses on monetary policy and financial markets.
